Hey everyone,
I would like to share my Venice travel journal with you today. A few weeks ago, I spent 4 days is this amazing city together with my boyfriend. We went there by car and lived in an apartment we booked via Airbnb. This was the first time I tried Airbnb and can definitely recommend it. We stayed in a beautiful apartment owned and rented by Paolo, the owner of Venice Suites. If you are planning to go on a trip to Venice, check his apartments out, they are completely new renovated, nearby the Mestre train station and even a car park is on the ground.
We stayed there for 4 days, but Venice has so much culture and so many sights to offer that 4 days weren’t even closely enough to see everything. When we arrived we took a walk through San Polo and got totally lost. So a great tip is to always make sure to have a map with you when you visit this city (we bought the lonely planet travel guide)! Luckily we found our way back but this wasn’t the only time something like this happened ;) We visited many sights but the “Escuola” and the “I Frari” Church were two of my personal highlights in Venice.
For now I would like to take you on a virtual tour through Venice with the pictures we took and share with you the experiences we made. I put a description under each photo so click on them and join me on a walk through Venice :)
Yours Mimi
We started with a walk through the quarter San Polo…
…and passed by the I Frari church. It is one of my personal highlights in Venice and definitely worth a visit.
After a long walk through San Polo we had dinner…
… and finished the day with a nice walk.
On our second day we took the boat on the Canal Grande…
…with a beautiful view on all the houses…
…and the San Sebastian church.
If you have enough time I would recommend on taking the boat at least once. The view is absolutely gorgeous.
We finally arrived at the Markus Place looking right at the Palazzo Ducale.
We spent hours inside the Palazzo Ducale where you can find a lot of art :)
We visited many museums on the next day…
…but also took a short walk through the beautiful city.
In the evening we went to listen to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in a nice little concert hall. I really felt thrown back into old Venice with the setting and music. I am really grateful we had the opportunity to take part at a concert like this.
Our last day surprised us with beautiful weather again.
We started at the fish and vegetable market.
And found ourselves for a snack around noon at All’ Arco… So good and authentic italian food :)
We walked to the Markus Place, visited the Basilica di San Marco and then started our walk through the quarter Sestiere di San Marco.
We passed shops with glamorous masks…
…and beautiful churches…
…until we found ourselves back at the Markus Place where we headed back to the train station Venezia St. Lucia.
But not without a look at the Rialto bridge in the sunlight.
Before we finally left this beautiful sky turned up, one of the last presents Venice had to offer :) See you soon, ciao Venezia!
